Proofing Papers with Fogra Certificate
We proof on certified proof papers. Normally two without or with few optical brighteners for ‘classic’ proofs and two proof papers with optical brighteners for Fogra51 or Fogra52 proofs, for example. The EFI papers are currently being gradually replaced by substrates from Proof.de and GMG. All proof papers are certified as proof substrates by Fogra:
We use the proof.de Proofing Substrate 255 Semimatte and the Gravure Proof Paper from EFI with 245g/sqm for the simulation of image printing papers. It has a very high-quality feel and is also perfect for customer presentations.
The proof.de Proofing Substrate 255 Semimatte is a high-quality proof paper for colour-accurate digital proofs in accordance with ISO 12647-7:2016 - it is Fogra certified and is suitable for proofs for offset, gravure and screen printing. The proof.de Proofing Substrate 255 Semimatte has a Fogra-cert reverse side print and is also suitable for spot colours.
The EFI 4245 Gravure Proof Paper is a coated, universally applicable semi-matt and smudge-proof paper. This proof paper, specially developed for offset and gravure printing, is compatible with paper types 1 and 2 of ISO 12647-2 and requires virtually no paper simulation for these papers. The EFI 4245 is the 4245 GRACoL/SWOP #3 certified and for gravure printing (S1 and S2) and for offset printing (PT3) the paper is also certified by FOGRA.

If you need a proof for uncoated paper, we offer a proof on GMG ProofMedia studio matt 200 or on matt EFI 9120XF 120g/sqm paper. The GMG proof paper contains no optical brighteners, the EFI paper contains very few. The special colouring and the high L-value of both papers are very suitable for simulating matt prints. They are perfect for simulating uncoated paper, as both proofing media are very similar to letter paper in terms of feel and thickness, although the GMG paper is significantly thicker at 200 gsm.

The ECI (European Color Initiative) writes in it's practice recommendation for "Uncoated" -Proofs:
"Another special feature of the proofing machine is that when printing on uncoated paper, the semimatte proof paper commonly used for "Coated"-Proofs results in a poor visual proof-to-print correspondence even in the case of a very good measurement result of the media wedge evaluation. Printing on uncoated proof paper results in the best possible matching with the set values from the characterization file and ensures the best possible visual correspondence between proof and print. "

GMG ProofMedia premium OBA semiMatte 250 was developed for the simulation of optical brighteners (OBAs), coated and semi-gloss papers and is suitable for proofs for offset packaging printing, commercial printing and publication printing. GMG ProofMedia premium OBA semiMatte 250 has been developed using the latest coating technology. An extremely fine surface coating ensures a large colour gamut and high resolution. The proof medium has a high resistance to light and ageing, which ensures colour consistency for a contract proof.

GMG ProofMedia studio OBA matte 150 was developed for high-precision proofing with maximum visual consistency for the most commonly used uncoated production papers.
In addition to a high level of optical brighteners (OBAs), GMG ProofMedia studio OBA matte 150 also contains a high brightness level with an L* value of 97, giving OBA matte 150 a wider colour gamut in highlight areas than many other matte proofing media.

Which proofing paper for which profile
Ordering proofs on shop.proof.de does not allow you to select a specific paper. Instead, the selected profile determines on which medium we print the proof. The table below shows which paper we use for which profile.
