Each profile and each standard has advantages and disadvantages. Many "warm" motifs (e.g. skin tones) appear optically too cold when printed according to v3. Conversely, neutral grey tones often appear somewhat too warm when printed according to v2. The combo pack offers you an excellent overview here.
The cleverprinting Test Form has developed over the years into one of the most popular and widely used test forms in Europe. Practice-oriented test images, printed in sheet-fed offset in one of Germany's best printing companies, provide an excellent reference print. Whether as an offset comparison print, for controlling digital printing or for softproofing, the cleverprinting Test Form is the ideal test form when it comes to reliable colour reference.
2 Variants: v2 and v3
The 2020 test form is available in two variants: v2 and v3. The v2 version was printed on Dacostern 150 g/m². The paper has significantly fewer optical brighteners than the Magno Satin paper, which we selected for the v3 variant.
The LAB values of Dacostern, according to our Paper White Database: 95.46/0.723/-3.114 (M0 measurement). The proportion of optical brighteners is specified as "moderate".
The LAB values of Magno Satin, according to our Paper White Database: 95.09/1.399/-6.511 (M1 measurement). The proportion of optical brighteners is specified as "high".
Variant v2:
In the v2 variant, the motifs were converted from InDesign with relative colorimetric rendering into ISOcoated_v2_300.icc. Printing was carried out according to the "old" standard. In combination with the Dacostern paper, which does not have such strong optical brightening, the test form is ideal for anyone who wants to continue printing according to the proven old standard.
Variant v3:
In the v3 variant, the motifs were converted from InDesign with relative colorimetric rendering into PSOcoated_v3.icc. Printing was carried out according to the "new" standard. In combination with the optically strongly brightened Magno Satin, the test form is ideal for anyone who wants to switch to the new standard.
v2 and v3 Combo Pack
Both test forms are available individually. However, we also offer a discounted combo pack consisting of a v2 and a v3 test form. This combo pack is ideal for anyone who wants to compare v2 and v3, old and new standards. Each profile and each standard has advantages and disadvantages. Many "warm" motifs (e.g. skin tones) appear optically too cold when printed according to v3. Conversely, neutral grey tones often appear somewhat too warm when printed according to v2. The combo pack offers you an excellent overview here.
