Our roll-ups are printed in proof quality with EPSON Ultrachrome HDX inks on the printing system with the most precise colour reproduction of the entire printer market. In addition to cyan, magenta, yellow and black, the printing system has three additional colours – orange, green and violet – which enable an enormous colour gamut, for example for Pantone or HKS colours on the roll-up. Your print data is ripped on the most modern Fiery XF systems and processed including spot colours, overprinting, trapping etc. Our colour management system processes CMYK, RGB, greyscale and LAB colour spaces exactly as with a proof and passes the data to our printers in the highest print quality. The colour reproduction on the roll-up corresponds exactly to your ordered colour space; you can place our roll-up in ISOCoatedV2 with two PANTONE spot colours directly next to your 6-colour printed image brochure and will get a precise colour match. This makes our roll-ups perfect for demanding motifs and photographs or for the representation of spot colours.
Our roll-up print is approximately 30 centimetres longer than the pure roll-up motif. Below the motif is a 10 cm high white area, below which you will normally find the job ticket invisibly rolled up in the cassette with important information about the print and the print data, RIP, printer, rendering intent and the print profiles used. In addition, the UGRA-Fogra media wedge CMYK 3.0 is printed. After printing, the media wedge is measured and the test certificate confirming the proof quality is printed below the job ticket.
You can only see these additional details if you pull the roll-up out of the cassette further than necessary. If you set up the roll-up normally, this information is not visible.
Our roll-up print is optimally designed for indoor use; moisture and a few drops of water cannot harm it, as the pigment colours can also be used for short-term outdoor use. However, the print is not laminated, and our mechanics are also not suitable for outdoor use in wind and weather.

For the colour-binding roll-ups, we use a satin-white microporous-coated PET film made of polyester with a light-impermeable grey antistatic backing.
The roll-up film is suitable for extremely high-resolution print images. Thanks to its good rigidity and strength, the insensitive film offers excellent flatness even under different climatic conditions and is therefore very easy to use. It is dimensionally stable, tear-resistant and light-impermeable.
The satin-white coating provides very good colour reproduction and enables previously unknown photographic qualities in combination with our Ultrachrome HDX pigment inks from Epson. The high-quality satin surface minimises annoying reflections.

Most customers send us PDF data. We accept PDF, EPS, TIF and JPEG files for proofing.
Black and white, CMYK or files with Pantone and HKS spot colours. PDF files in PDF/X-1a, PDF/X-3 or PDF/X-4 format are optimal for proofing.
PDF/X-1a (widely used outside Europe) and PDF/X-3 are traditionally print-optimised PDF files. These ISO standards ensure, for example, that fonts and images are embedded. They are recognised and requested as the standard for print data exchange at most printers.
PDF/X-4 is the new print standard for PDF files. Unlike PDF/X-3, PDF/X-4 files can contain transparency in the file. PDF/X-3 was also a medium-neutral standard, but 99% of all X-3 files contain only CMYK colours and spot colours. PDF/X-4 is still rarely, but increasingly requested by printers because with X-4 data the separation can be placed as late as possible in the process chain. The standard offers many advantages, but also risks.
Proof GmbH is the only company in Germany certified by PDFX-ready for proof output of PDF/X-4 data and has been a member of PDFX-ready for several years.
If you want to get detailed information about the advantages and disadvantages of each format, we recommend the PDFX-ready website. Here you will find all information, guidelines for PDF creation and Acrobat creation and Acrobat check profiles for PDF/X-4 files.

In all common layout programmes, all three PDF/X standards can be selected and created during export.

Matthias Betz and the Proof.de team
Current proof systems can reproduce spot colours such as HKS or Pantone very well. With the Fiery XF 6.5.2 proof software and the Epson SureColor-P9000V Spectro proof printer, we have evaluated the colour deviation in Delta-E00 with which the various PANTONE and HKS colours can be achieved on our roll-up film.
The colour deviations were calculated by the proof software based on the measured colour space of the proof system from proof.de. Deviations are therefore possible in practice. However, it shows that almost all spot colours can be simulated quite well in the large colour space of the proof device.
The smaller the ∆E00 value, the smaller the colour difference from the spot colour reference to the printed colour. Higher ∆E values indicate which colours cannot be reproduced as well in printing.
As a rough guide: From ∆E00 > 1, a colour difference is visible to the human eye; below this, it can only be measured but not seen.
