Pigment ink: EPSON HDX colours
- We print with 11 different pigment inks
- With the help of violet, UltraChrome HDX pigments can produce a wide range of vibrant colors, deep, rich blacks and dense shadows.
- Compared to previous inks, the new Photo Black ink has a pigment concentration that is up to 1.5 times higher, resulting in deeper black tones.
- UltraChrome HDX inks are designed for durability. The weaknesses of the former HDR inks were eliminated, especially in the yellow area. Mark McCormick-Goodhart, Director of Aardenburg Imaging and Archives writes: "The yellow was by far the weakest link[for the stability of pigments]. The new HDX ink set resolves this weakness[....].
- Henry Wilhelm von Wilhelm Imaging Research writes about the new HDX inks: "The data measured so far show that - depending on the paper used - the new inks offer durability of up to 200 years for colour prints, and presumably over 400 years for black and white prints. [...] The larger Dmax, larger color space and reduced metamerism with the new Epson UltraChrome HDX pigments represent a major advance in visual brilliance of both color and black and white images. [...] The generally better performance of prints is a significant contribution to photography."
