proof.de Metamerism Card / Color Temperature Indicator

The colors of modern Digital Proofs are strongly dependent on the surrounding Light (Metamerism). Therefore it is important, that proofs and prints are always viewed under D50 Normlight with a Color Temperature of 5000 Kelvin. Using another light source with wrong color temperature or wrong spectral values, an assessment makes no sense. With the color temperature indicator can be easily detected if the light source is the standard D50 light, and wether an color judgement is correct.

Viewed in a standard color temperature of 5000 Kelvin, all surfaces have the same olive color. If the color temperature differs, the indicator shows visible color differences. In that case, the light is in accordance with ISO 3664 not suitable for color evaluation of proofs and prints.

Colour temperature indicator

The ugra Light Indicator Strip D50 is used to check the conformity of a standard lighting to the standard illuminant D50. The two green print colours of the card form a metameric colour pair (conditionally equal colours). Under standard illuminant D50, the colour patches appear identical. Under any other illuminant, the colour patches appear different. This type of metamerism is called illumination metamerism. The cause is the different light spectrum of the respective illuminants. This way, you can easily recognise non-compliant lighting conditions and will not be fooled when colour matching.

The product contains 50 self-adhesive labels in the format 75 x 15 mm, slotted.
